What is High Pressure Laminate (HPL)?

It is considered one of the most durable decorative surface materials and is available with unique performance properties,including chemical,fire,and wear resistance.HPL is produced by saturating multiple layers of kraft paper with phenolic resin.Before pressing, a layer of printed decor paper is placed on top of the kraft paper.The resulting sandwich is fused under heat and pressure (over 1,000 PSI).Because phenolic and melamine resins are thermoset plastics,the curing process transforms the resin into plastic by a cross-linking process that converts the paper sheets into a single,rigid,laminated sheet.Thermo-setting creates strong,irreversible bonds that contribute to HPL's durability.

Structure of compact Laminate HPL Panels

Compact laminate HPL panels typically consist of 60% to 709 paper and 30% to 40% thermosetting resin. They consist of three layers: overlay paperdecorative paper and vellum paper. Overay paper helps improve the abrasion and scrach resistance of the product. The decorative paper helps toincrease the aesthetic appeal of the product through design and the kraft paper is the core materal to control the thickness of the product.

How to clean and maintain HPL surfaces?

HPL surfaces can be cleaned with water or any mild detergent used for household cleaning.it is recommended to avoid cleaning HPL surfaces withheavily chlorinated, acidic or alkaline products, After cleaning HPL surfaces with a cleaner, be sure to wipe them down with a dry cloth. Also, waxpolishing is not recommended for HPL surfaces as it may attract deposits of dust and grime.
